Jeollanam-do Province in the southwest of Korea is home to diverse tourist destinations. Top natural sites include Suncheoman Bay, a habitat for thousands of migratory birds, Boseong green tea fields, as well as the designated slow cities (Jeungdo Island, Cheongsando Island, Damyang). Today, we’ll look around Boseong green tea plantation and Damyang bamboo garden. Boseong has been a tea plantation area since the days of the Japanese occupation, and with its long history comes large plantations, their traditions, and highly skilled workers. Boseong Tea plantation is very beautiful, full of green tea fields and cedar trees. There are several country roads in Korea known for their beauty, and one of them is the Boseong Cedar Road. Trees 20 meters in height are planted and lined evenly along both sides of the road. Seonginsan Mountain behind Damyang Hyanggyo (Confucian school) was transformed into Juknokwon Bamboo Garden featuring a beautiful artificial waterfall, pavilion, walking paths and an eco-exhibition center, a popular destination for visitors. It takes about 1 hour to tour around the entire garden.

|Boseong Yuppo Beach|
A pine tree forest grows on the 1.2 kilometer sandy stretch of Boseong’s Yulpo beach, which is widely known for its spectacular scenery. Here you can enjoy the pine tree forests and the clean oceans. Formerly a small fishing village, the region’s famous green tea and beautiful beaches has resulted in many tourists visiting Yulpo Beach. The area has become a family summer resort, fully equipped with accommodation and leisure facilities.
|Boseong Green Tea Plantation|
Boseong Green Tea Plantation is an area located in Boseong, and its main specialty is green tea which originated from the mountain valleys south of Boseong. Boseong has been a tea plantation area since the days of the Japanese occupation, and with its long history comes large plantations, their traditions, and highly skilled workers.
Metasequoia trees were planted along the street in the early 1970s when the Ministry of Internal Affairs officially designated the road as a “boulevard.” At that time, the saplings were only 3 to 4 years old and their branches stretched sparsely out into the sky; now, the trees have grown so high that they seem to block out the sun! Thanks to these stately trees, in 2002 the Korea Forest Service selected the boulevard as one of the most beautiful roads in Korea. The 4 kilometer-long boulevard is located along National Road No. 24 and is one of the most popular driving routes in Korea, especially during summer when the trees’ lush green leaves are at their height of beauty.
Juknokwon in Damyang is a bamboo forest cultivated by the town of Damyang.
