Introduction
Ganghwa Dolmen Site [UNESCO World Heritage Site]
It is a tomb made by people in the Bronze Age and is also called a dolmen. There are a table type (North method) erected like a desk on the ground and a checkerboard type (South method) where large stones are used as small supports or only flagstones are placed. In Korea, the largest number of dolmens in the world are distributed throughout the country. It took a lot of manpower to quarry and transport cover stones weighing more than several tens of tons and install them in the tomb. Therefore, dolmens are representative relics of the Bronze Age, which symbolizes the political power and economic power of the ruling class at the time.
